Abstract:
Recently social science research has seen a great deal of debate about the merits and demerits of “searching for big questions” vs. “searching for causation”. There are reasons to believe that this debate is more relevant to strategic management than several other related fields. In this presentation, I will discuss different views in this debate and highlight the importance of research design in empirical studies. I will discuss several approaches to strengthen causality claims using specific examples.
